Cary, NC-based Ultimate Storage Company continues to add to its self-storage development pipeline with its latest project: a 75,000-square-foot facility on a five-acre site in Leland, NC.
Principal Manoj Bhatia told the SpareFoot Storage Beat that they met with town officials recently and expects to open the facility in the spring of 2017.

The company is currently constructing Durham Self Storage (pictured at top), located at 1651 TW Alexander Drive in Durham. That facility is scheduled to open in August, Bhatia said.

Plans have been filed for an 80,000-square-foot self-storage facility at 6125 Nations Ford Road in Charlotte, NC that also includes a 5,000-square-foot retail space for Hawthorne’s New York Pizza & Bar. Pizza restaurant owner Michael Adams is partnering with development firm The Stewart Group to pursue the project, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. City Council will consider the project, which also includes office space and room for a coffee shop, in the coming months with construction expected to begin near the end of the year.
Also in Charlotte, an unidentified developer wants to build a six-story, 126,000-square-foot storage facility on a one-acre parcel adjacent to Interstate 277 and 7th Street. The project would feature a first floor space for shops, cafes or offices and would start construction in the fourth quarter, according to the Charlotte Observer.

A mixed-use project in Decatur, GA will feature a large self-storage component, according to recently submitted land development plan. Fuqua Development, the developers of Decatur Crossing, want to build a 123,500-square-foot self-storage as part of their residential and commercial development at Scott Boulevard and Medlock Road, according to The Champion Newspaper.
Jerry Pietz, owner of Kato Moving and Storage, is planning to develop a new self-storage facility along a site on Sibley Parkway in Mankato, MN. Pietz will demolish an existing Quonset hut on the site that is 76-years-old.
Mike Rolfe, owner of Lighthouse Self Storage, is seeking approval to build a self-storage facility on South Melrose Drive (between Sunset Drive and Lake Park) in Vista, CA, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The land is currently owned by the city.
Officials in Epping, NH are considering a three-story self-storage facility at 276 Calef Highway. The facility would be part of a development plan proposed by Tucker Realty Corp. that also includes a 17,000-squarae-foot retail building and a car wash, as well as some industrial space at the rear of the property, according to the Union Leader. Bluebird Self-Storage would operate the storage facility.

Midgard Self Storage is currently under construction in North Naples, FL. Located on Vanderbilt Beach Road, the 95,550-square-foot facility is the first business to open in a new retail development called Vanderbilt Commons.

A new Mini Price Storage location is under construction at 3511 Pemberton Road in Henrico County, VA. The facility will span 146,850-square-feet when completed.

StorQuest has completed construction of a new self-storage facility at 5260 W. Hunt Highway in Queen Creek, AZ.

Strategic Storage Growth Trust, a fund operated by SmartStop Asset Management, has a contract to buy an 85,000-square-foot self-storage facility under construction at Pines Boulevard and SW 186th Avenue in Pembroke Pines, FL. Construction is scheduled to break ground in May 2016. The completed facility will offer about 880 units.

Extra Space Storage has purchased the newly constructed facility at 2240 S. Xapary Way in Aurora, CO. The 86,175-square-foot facility was developed by Englewood, CO based Omni Development Corporation. Chico Le Claire and Adam Schlosser of Marcus & Millichap in Denver arranged the sale, the office’s third certificate of occupancy transaction completed during the last eight months.
