Imbus Enterprises of Ohio wants to build a 627-unit self-storage facility in Florence, OH. The 5.2-acre site was formerly Florence Nursery at 7501 US-42. The local planning commission is currently considering the necessary zoning change.
Neighbors and area business owners spoke against the facility at a recent hearing, voicing fears that the facility “would look like a prison,” according to Cincinatti.com. Principal Chris Imbus said the company would invest $6 million into the property, which would feature a colonial brick façade. The company operates four facilities in Ohio currently.

A real estate company is seeking permission to build a 73,224-square-foot facility at 4250 SW Eighth St in Coral Gables, FL. The former trailer park site is owned by Gables Edge Parks Co, which submitted the application. The South Florida Business Journal reports that the property is under contract to developer Richard Beavers. The journal reports that a rendering for the facility shows it being operated by CubeSmart.

U-Haul is redeveloping a former 432,000-square-foot Tastykake factory in Philadelphia (pictured at top) into a facility that will offer 3,200 storage units when complete. The company currently offers truck and trailer rentals and moving supplies at the site, located at 2801 W. Hunting Park Avenue. The company purchased the factory in April for $3.6 million, property records show. It will be one of the largest U-Haul locations nationwide.
This former Kmart in Greenville, SC is on track to become a self-storage facility.
Reliant Real Estate Management is converting a vacant Kmart store in Greenville, SC into an 800-unit self-storage facility, according to Greenville Online. The facility is schedule to open in May 2016 under the name Midgard Self-Storage. Reliant is affliated with Roswell, GA-based StoreSmart Self Storage, which operates 27 facilities in five states, according to its website.
Storage Construction of York, PA is building this facility in nearby Phoenixville.
A facility operating by the name Stirling Self Storage is under construction in Phoenixville, PA. York, PA-based Storage Construction was awarded the contract to build the three-story facility. Delivery of the project is expected by spring of 2016.
