The William Warren Group is building an $11 million, 815-unit StorQuest facility in Denver, CO, according to the Colorado Real Estate Journal. It will be located at West Sixth Avenue and Kalamath Street and open by early September.

The self-storage company already owns or manages a dozen self-storage facilities in Denver. Another 910 units are under construction at 5301 DTC Blvd. in Greenwood Village and are scheduled to open in August. That facility cost about $14 million to construct.

The William Warren Group, which operates facilities under the name StorQuest, plans to break ground on another two facilities in the Denver area, including one with ground level retail, by the end of the summer.

The former site of the Toledo Mud Hens’ historic baseball park (otherwise known as Swayne Field) is now a moving and storage location for U-Haul.

The ballpark was demolished in the 1950s, replaced with a four-story 155,630-square-foot warehouse building, which will be converted to self-storage units by U-Haul. The 5-acre parcel is located at 3011 Council St. in Toledo, OH. It was most recently occupied by Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies since 1993.

Once renovations are complete this fall, the site will contain 700 self-storage units.

Houston-based Amazing Spaces has several self-storage locations in the works, according to The Woodlands Villager.

Construction is under way along FM 2978 in Magnolia, TX on the company’s second local center and fifth overall. Amazing Spaces – which markets itself as an “upscale” storage operator – also has a site south of The Woodlands for another location.

Amazing Spaces broke ground on the facility located near the intersection of FM 2978 and Research Forest Drive in January. Construction is slated for completion in October. The southern location will be located at the intersection of Spring Stuebner Road and Holzwarth Drive. It is scheduled to break ground this year.

U-Haul has purchased a 2.5-acre lot at 2135 Fifth St. NE in Washington D.C., for $12.25 million.

The site was home to a U.S. Postal Service facility for about 50 years, according to The Washington Business Journal.

The 79,380-square-foot historic building is located within a 3-minute walk the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station.

The company has owned the building next door to the USPS facility, 2215 Fifth, since 2005. Sources close to the deal said the former USPS facility will likely be converted into a self-storage building, with U-Haul truck parking on the surrounding lot.

A public hearing will take place to determine if Sokol can move forward with his plans.

Metro Storage LLC opened a 1,357-unit climate-controlled self-storage facility in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Located at 2727 Knapp Street, the development represents Metro’s fourth New York store, according to a company press release.

The new, four-story building has 80,000 rentable square feet and features multiple drive up access points, four interior loading bays, security and several elevators. Unit sizes range from small 5×5 lockers to larger 10×30 units.

The developer says it overcame a long-standing restrictive covenant over the land that had led to the site being empty for nearly three decades. The ownership group includes Metro Storage LLC, Clark Investment Group of Wichita, KS, and Post Management in New York City.
